The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has caused much suffering. When it started in March 2022, members of the Sathya Sai International Organization (SSSIO) in North Europe (Zone 7), with the support of the SSSIO members worldwide, offered loving assistance and humanitarian relief to the displaced people.
With Ukrainians escaping into neighboring countries, SSSIO members in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Hungary and the Czech Republic started offering food, shelter, supplies, and medical assistance to refugees arriving there.With Ukrainians escaping into neighbouring countries, members of SSSIO in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Hungary and the Czech Republic started offering food, shelter, supplies, and medical assistance to refugees arriving there.
The first truck load of food from Poland reached Viennetsa, Ukraine in April 2022, containing 16 pallets of food and other essentials. With the dedicated help of SSSIO members in Ukraine, food, water, hygiene articles and medicines were distributed in Central and Western Ukraine.
Between April and August 2022, more cities in Ukraine were served, including Horodenka, Dnipropetrowsk, Lviv, Kiew region, Poltava, Charkiev, Kramatorsk and Sumy. Volunteers even travelled by cars to assist aged and lonely people, in their homes in the countryside.
In June 2022, with the support of the United Nations, yet another truck load of food, water, and other necessities was delivered to a warehouse in Viennetsa.
Between June and August 2022, SSSIO Poland distributed fresh food, packed food items, and other necessities to several villages, an orphanage, and a refugee centre in the Lviv area.
Meanwhile, between May and August 2022, several transports from Germany reached Viennetsa, Poltava, and Charkiev with urgent medical supplies for the sick and injured. Help was also sent to the sick, the elderly, the disabled, and the homeless in the Dneprpetrovsk region between May and September 2022.
