Since 8 August 2018, an unprecedented wave of catastrophic floods has brought the Indian state of Kerala to a halt, with conditions only worsening. The current reports indicate that hundreds of people have perished and over 300,000 have been displaced, so far. A red alert has been issued across several districts in Kerala.

The Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation (SSSSO) of India has taken immediate action to address the needs of the people and provide relief to those who are impacted. The Disaster Management teams of Kerala and Tamil Nadu in India have already made a difference by deploying rescue teams, setting up supply collection centres, and distributing 3,000 food and basic supply kits.

The SSIO is in close communication with the leadership of the SSSSO of India, to assess the situation and coordinate any required international assistance. Sathya Sai Baba has told us that sincere prayer is one of the most effective ways to assuage the grief and suffering of victims of natural disasters. Let us all pray together to Swami to shower His divine blessings on our brothers and sisters afflicted by these floods.
